MaKayla Shorts

(Head Coach: 13U White, 14s, 16s)

MaKayla has been coaching Girls Youth Volleyball since 2015, starting her journey with NYS, where she quickly developed a reputation for her commitment and enthusiasm for the game. MaKayla was honored to serve as the Head Volleyball Coach of Democracy Prep during 2017-2019, a role in which she not only taught fundamental skills but also inspired young athletes to work as a cohesive team. After taking a couple of years off to grow her family and create lasting memories, she is back with a vengeance, eager to share her extensive knowledge and unwavering passion with youth players for the game of volleyball. She believes that every player has the potential to excel and aims to foster an environment where dedication and hard work are celebrated, setting the foundation for both athletic and personal growth. Director of Athletes

Marina Fowlkes

(Conditioning Specialist)

Marina Fowlkes grew up playing sports in middle and high school, including soccer, basketball, and All-Star competitive cheerleading. Her Junior Varsity soccer team led an undefeated season as district champs. She cheered for Texas A&M in Laredo, Texas, then went on to coach cheerleading at Destiny High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marina and her husband Eric moved to Las Vegas as home coordinators for Boys-town Las Vegas. Sports were important in their home roles and highly required their boys to play a competitive sport. Many went on to play at a higher level or in college. Marina is dedicated to watching the growth of her team through intense conditioning, character, and team building.
